hi, i'm kinda of freaking out right now b/c i took the sat in march of this year and made an 1870, it was my first time taking it (10 on the essay) and i was wondering if it was possible that i study my ass off for the next few months until october, to get like a 2300 or something. i have only one more shot at it before i need to take the sat ii's in november cause i'm takin the chinese one and i'm afraid that if i take it in dec, the scores won't be in on time for the jan 1st deadline. i was wondering if anyone can give me some useful advice on how to begin a study plan or wat, just anything, i'm really afraid that my sat scores aren't going to come through.... thanx alot in advance

blue book
online course
hard work

add it all up and it's at least a 2100 for you.

you said at least a 2100, there is a possibility to go higher right?

yea

fyi, you don't need a 2300 to get into an ivy

Yes, it's definitely doable if you study your butt off. Go for it.

i got an 1870 my first time taking it. With little to no prep. I got a 2090 on my retake. ANd, am retaking in october for a 2400

well, see i don't have that great of ec's so i have to make up for it somewhere in my sat scores plus the essays to try for an ivy and i have to take the nov sat ii's so oct 's my last shot at the sat reasoning test, would it be okay if i supplemented w/ material from other review books b/c i have the Kaplan's 12 Test Book, where it has 12 tests, i have peterson's, and i have barrons

I recommend:
Barron's SAT 2400
Barron's Math Workout for the SAT
College Board's Official Guide (primarily or exclusively for the tests)

It definately can be done, I raised my score by 280 points and I actually scored lower than my projected score.

But start soon, it really helps to spread it out in my opinion

1870 to 2300 . . . that's a 430 point increase, so you need some serious studying and practicing in probably Blue Book, Barrons 2400, PR 11, maybe Kaplan 2400, however in your case I'd recommend going for the practice tests over and over and figuring what you can do to raise your score. Doing that I imagine you can get at least 2100 . . . over that it's about determination and how much effort you put into studying your butt off.

I doubt you're gonna raise it that much.

study really hard and you might pull out a 2250. the curves mess you up the higher you get.

wat do you mean the higher you get the more the curve messes you up?

tag for more books i should get

try a private tutor..my score increased close to 300 points..

He means that the higher your score is the harder it is to improve.

Just make sure you ask yourself: Is what I'm about to put myself through really worth it? Is it what I really want to do?

(Yes, if you're wondering, I do kind of hate the college board and standardized testing.)

yes, i know exactly wat i'm going to put myself through and yes i hate the collegeboard and sat stuff too which is exactly why i'm going to try for a really high score just to spite them, no, but really i want to make a good score at least good enough for an ivy

how do i get into a ivy league college im going into my freshmen year in highschool and am taking the biology sat II is it hard...

you guys are psycho

you guys have to relax

there are plenty of kids that get into ivies with sub 1400s

i know tons of cornellians that didnt crack 1400

from my high school, a bunch with below 1400 got into Upenn and Cornell.
