Curves

wow. I'm like semi-shocked that all this "participation"!!!!

Old School: 1/3 hw/quiz/part, 1/3 trimester test, 1/3 tests
New School: varies
ie, Chem-95%, English-about 85%, Math-80%, History 70% (and all the rest of this is projects/labs/etc...)

AP Bio:

70% HW
30% TESTS

she gives really hard tests, curves them, and we still fail :)

I wish my Calc BC class had some of these grading systems. 100% of your grade is tests and quizzes and you get a point off your average every time you forget a homework assignment or your textbook. Needless to say, this class is really murdering my GPA :(.

My APUSH class

80% Homework
20% Quizzes and Tests

I don't like it because I don't do all the homework for that class. I am a good test-taker though.

tests are 85% of my calc grade. study study study

Jman that is RIDICULOUS! in my APUSH class our hw=reading 30 pages of the text each night... and it counts for 0% of our grade lol! each day we have a 15 pt quiz on last night's reading, the midterm/final ends up being worth 40%.

my pre-calc class is 100% tests. somehow i have an A- (soo not a math person). the great thing about this is no hw :-)

I remember in middle school our semester grade was entirely based upon a final exam; for all classes except math they were essay exams that took a day to write. Except if you were teacher's pet you got 105s and were allowed to stay until 6:30, and if teachers hated you but you were still competent you could stay until 4 and got low As. You were allowed to retake the exams if you got below an 85, and were forced to retake them if you got below a 75. (If you got below a 75 three times in a row you theoretically had to retake the course again, but this often didn't happen in practice.) Life was crazy.

I wish we had curving in Calculus; the average grade in there is a 39...
