Hi. Yesterday, my coach told me and a few others that we had been cut from our high school swim team. We had been on Frosh then JV and this is my junior year (aka the "most important" year).

So, I have two questions: 1) How would competitive colleges like Stanford look at a student who did two years of swim and then quit, and 2) What options do I now have? New sport? Or take another class?

By the way, grades are not of concern, as I have about a 4.6

I have volunteered 3 hours/week since sophomore year at the same place (is now a leader), am a board member of two clubs, founded one club, started organizing events with my city (interview only, one of three chosen from my high school), and I’ll likely become a CSF seal bearer.

Honestly, I’m not too interested in joining another sport. (Maybe track) thanks for suggesting though. Anyone else have suggestions? Being cut is really upsetting me.

If you love to swim, is there a rec level or club level team in your area? My D likes to swim, but isn’t fast, so rec league is a good fit for her.

I think it is more common than you think to just have two years in a sport. In our state, many sports don’t have a true “JV”, they have Frosh, Soph and Varsity so roughly half the kids are cut or quit when they move from sophomore to junior year.
