Cut off from parents, in college, help?

So my parents actually cut me off from them for getting a D in a summer class. My GPA is 3.4 (not too bad???) but my parents are strict so thats that. What do I do? I would love to continue living my life but im not sure if theres any way I could get a loan to pay off anything, rent, tuition, food, ect. From what ive heard all loans require a cosigner. My rent is also due within the next 3 days and I’m predicting that i’ll just end up getting evicted and have nowhere to go before fall semester starts. I am (was?) a full time student and have no car/job currently and am a year away from graduating. What should I do, or just be honest if im completely screwed in life from here on out.

You need to talk with your parents and tell them what you are facing. They appear to be the only ones who can “rescue” you at this point.

As a parent, I find it hard that a parent would cut you off for getting a D in a class if you were really trying. Was the course too difficult?

I might just be unlucky then with my parents. They don’t care at the moment and arent open to negotiate. The class was a 6-week summer class in intermediate accounting. It was very difficult, one exam per week of tons of information. I just wasn’t ready. There’s no excuse for failing but I dont think I deserve this either. Thanks for the help. Hopefully theres some miracle that can get me out of this

Are there any relatives or friends of the family who can talk to your parents for you? This is pretty extreme.

I have a few relatives but im not close with any of them. I dont think they could persuade my parents either.

Not looking too hopeful but thanks for the responses

Look for an on campus job. Your best bet is to make and spend your own money so that way you don’t owe anyone anything and nobody can take anything away from you. Contact your school to see if there’s any additional loans they’ve offered you which you did not accept already. Make a GoFundMe. Loans from Sallie Mae do require a cosigner, but a student loan from a bank may not. But most importantly, DO NOT DROP OUT! You’re so close to finishing and you’ve come farther than millions of people.

Is there a family friend or clergyman that could meet with the three of you? It sounds like you need an impartial person if you’re going to get anywhere.

Why were you taking a summer class? Did you fail the class before?

Can you tell your parents you will retake the class ?
Get a job, any job, quickly (like, go today drop off your resume at all the possible places, depending on where you live it’s like 6pm or earlier so go quickly to get things started.) I believe Walmart , Target, and McDonald’s have raised their basic wages. Get two jobs if need be, especially if one pays weekly.
Call your landlord and say that exceptionally you’ll be a few days late due to a family emergency and would really appreciate it if they gave you a couple days. THIS IS ONLY POSSIBLE if you’ve never, ever been late with rent.

You need a backup plan in case you can’t repair things with your parents in time. Are you in state or out of state? Do you have any friends you could stay with? Who is paying your college tuition? If you have scholarships and merit aid, you may be able to cover the difference with a federal loan.

Are your parents cutting you off completely, i.e. you can’t live at home even temporarily? Or are they only cutting off your tuition and paying for you to live away from home?

Also talk to the dean of students at your school and ask for advice.

Just want to check in and see if things turned out alright.
