^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^???

I heard it was 7421 - just one source. Can someone confirm this?

That is a big jump from last year's 5,000 something pts....

i think i remember reading posts about it being around 7400 last year, too, so it isn't a big jump. i read somewhere that this year's is 7429.

last year was like 68 something I believe

im pretty sure it was >6800 last year

Sooo, we're more qualified this year, yet...
offered the leftovers?

Only assuming the last couple posts were true.

If it really was 7400, then I guess I've no reason to complain.

i called the admission office this morning and the cut off is 7421.

Last year was not 5000. I believe it was somewhere around 7455's. The cutoff for 2004 was 7465, so it doesn't make sense for the cutoff to drop 2500 points in one year and come back the next.

what are all these numbers? point system?

The numbers could be higher because they were factoring in the new SAT.

True....

800 more pts from 1600 to 2400

Not exactly. Only 2 SAT II's are required now. So, that offsets the 800 points. In the test score category, the points are added as 0.8(SATI + SATII + SATII). The old test score points are added as 0.8(SATI + SATII + SATII + SATII).

Last year (2005) was 7483. I know, I missed it by 33 points, appealed and got in.

what did you appeal about iluvmusak?

i just wanted to point out something in my essay that they may not have taken into consideration when they evaluated my app. i think i was so close that they just bumped me in. the bad thing was that they let me know that i was accepted the day after the housing deadline. so, i didn't have guaranteed housing and was on the waitlist up until a week before school started. that really made me nervous. i had already accepted davis so i lost out my deposit there.

Is there some kind of link on how to appeal for ucsd? I've been looking for two hours and I can't find a thing.
I know it has to be written and sent in, but I don't know the first thing about their format, what they want, what I'm allowed to say. Also, I got the impression that appealing differed from uc to uc, but I think I'd need to get that clarified as well.

Oh, and I was curious how worth it this appeal thing is.
I missed the fall cut-off by 23 points, made it into winter quarter, but want to be assured housing and am thinking about trying to make an argument for 'new and compelling evidence' (I just recently received a gold medal in a regional science competition.. not much, but that's all I've got going for me I think).

What kinds of things make for a good appeal?
