I know there was a thread on this from awhile back, but I just wanted to double check…is there a cut system at boco?

anybody???

In December of your Sophomore year, there is a promotionals trial. You have to somewhat re-audition in front of all your teachers both in singing and acting. They've recently added or are thinking of adding a dance promotional, as well. You can pass singing and acting, or perhaps just one or the other. Maybe not even either. If you don't pass both first time around, you have one more opportunity at the end of your Sophomore year to try again. At that time, if you are not considered adequate in both singing and dancing, you can be cut from the program. There is not a "magic number". They're not trying to cut x # of students to get to a certain size class. I don't know how big my d's class was last year (~50?), but only a few were cut at the end of May. Also, you can try to fight it at that time and go before the director to plead your case. He has final decision and will review your progress, etc. to determine if you should be allowed to stay in the program.

thank you so much!

I just realized I wrote that you had to be adequate at singing and dancing on your second try at promotionals or would could be cut. I meant to say singing and acting. Sorry about that.
