Just wondering if swimmers have scheduled all of their official visits for D3 (NESCAC and the like) and or Patriot League schools? My D has heard back after academic pre-reads from a few of these schools and has been offered invites for official visits, but hasn’t heard back from her top 2-3 schools. One specifically told her that they didn’t submit pre-reads to late August, but it seems late to start coordinating these visits, and I wonder if coaches start to go silent if they fill up recruiting trips with faster recruits, or if the pre-reads come back negative, do they not bother to let the recruits know?
Hmm, we are in a similar situation. D would be top 5 in her best event at two of the more competitive (swim) Patriot League schools. But her times would not score at the conference championship.
Official visits and pre-reads: the two Patriot League coaches talked about them but they have not gotten the ball rolling on that. I tend to feel that it all depends on what type of recruit the athlete is for that particular school. For my D, an academically prestigious D3 LAC is all over the pre-read, overnight visit, ED, the whole nine yards. At this school, she would be their top swimmer in many events. At another school, a D1 where she is a middle of the road recruit, the coach got the pre-read started but that’s about it. So it’s all over the board, and it seems to depend on what type of a swimmer you are for that school, and perhaps what else that school has in the pipeline.
