D'amore McKim Business School (Northeastern) vs Rutgers Business School Honors College

I recently got into both colleges for business, with generous scholarship from both institutions, although with in state tuition at Rutgers, Rutgers becomes almost 15k per year cheaper.

I view proximitiy to home (Rutger’s location) to be a plus, but academics wise I am unsure which school is better. My biggest concern is with job placements. Although Northeastern has a strong co op program, Rutgers proximity to New York will give me more New York opportunities. I also want to do consulting after graduation. Which program is better?

Both are good schools but I don’t see Northeastern being worth $60k more. I know lots of very successful Rutgers grads who had great internship opportunities.

Would you be commuting to Rutgers?

I can see the value of northeastern’s co ops being “worth it” coming out with a superior employment opportunity. But that’s unknown of course.

Plus there is a lifestyle factor. Boston is America’s college city.

I am huge fan of Rutgers but NEU (if it didn’t crush my family long term financially) would be the choice. And not that tough to choose either. Especially in business with coops.

But it’s not my money to spend and Rutgers wouldn’t be a mistake in any way shape or form. It’s a great university.

Congrats and good luck!

Tough call because internships & co-ops are important with respect to job placement.

Is the $15,000 per year difference in cost attributable to the cost of living & dining on campus at NEU versus living at home for Rutgers ?

Academically these two schools should be equal.
