Hi I’ve been dancing since I can remember and so its obviously been a huge part of my life that I don’t want to stop when i go to college. Brown is one of my top choices and I’m really considering it for ED…they only thing is that I don’t think they have as strong of a dance program as I would like. I’m looking for Extra Curricular Dance, like in a club, or a performance group, not as a concentration. Please please please answer!!! Thank you :)

Extra Info:
I dance all sorts of styles, ie hip hop, modern, tap, jazz…but my main interest is Ballet and Modern. Your insight is much appreciated!

Brown has very few dance concentrators, so much like the music programs, all the various teams, groups etc rely on the whole college to make up their groups. That can be a big advantage to getting into some quite “serious” dance classes and programs. This may give you some info: [Extra-Curricular Dance](<a href=“Theatre Arts & Performance Studies | Brown University”>Theatre Arts & Performance Studies | Brown University).
If you were planning on making a high level career of dance, I would recommend Columbia (I know of a recent grad who is dancing with the NYC Ballet), but at Brown you can likely spend as many hours with dance as you can fit in! (the “fusion” group I think it is, sells out their $performances every year. The ballroom team travels to comps all over (but doesn’t have the support they would like from the school for practice space etc, that goes to ballet /modern groups).

Thank you for the information! Fusion is a superb and talented group of students. I saw parts of their spring show online and it was incredible.
To the BrownAlumParent’s question, I was not looking into a high level career as a dancer, just wanted to continue it because i love it so much.
