My very picky southern Cali girl refused to apply to any dance program where the weather wasn’t good. I guess watching her sister struggle with the Indiana weather hit home. In addition to being picky about the weather, she doesn’t want a conservatory type program like U of A. Though she did get into their regular school. She liked Chapman a lot, way too big price tag, and didn’t get a dance call back. But got into the regular school for peace studies(what the heck is that) She’s auditioning at UCSB and San Diego state. She has a very solid gpa but lousy test scores, so I’m really worried that she won’t get into Santa Barbara Bc her stats aren’t high enough. I think the audition will go well, but cannot figure out how they weigh the audition. Otherwise she was admitted to a university in Israel:( or she said she would minor in dance if she couldn’t major. Her pickiness is killing us!
Waiting to hear from university of Oregon, boulder, Charleston, cal poly slo, the uc’s
Insane even the second time around. Can only imagine the third and fourth kids;(
Thanx all!
Our impression was UCSB expected lower test scores within the audition-based programs (and UCs care more about GPA anyway). But unclear how much lower would be acceptable (we only saw the opposite end of it with my high stats D getting awards like Regents that classmates with similar scores applying to more competitive academic majors did not). Good luck!
Has she considered Utah? Similar climate to Boulder but much cheaper, and my D loves it there. Auditions in SF (ballet) or SLC (ballet and modern) are early Feb and they have rolling admissions. But it is a BFA program.
