Hi , my daughter injured her achilles tendon a week ago on her left foot. Its unfortunate it happens right before she starts the dance audtions. There is no rupture or tear thank god, but do you think colleges will make an exception and allow her do audtion after audtion dates are over?. I dont think she will be totally healed in february where there is 2 audtions that month. She will need a week prior to the deadline to get her strength back so looks like february is out of the question. I would say march would be her best bet getting back on her feet. which dance audtions are over for the most part. Do u think they would allow her to audtion after the deadline ? Any thoughts or suggestions?
Hi -so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, I have never heard of a college letting a dancer audition after their
deadline. But it can’t hurt to ask, by emailing the administrator of one or 2 of her top programs. If you happen NOT to need financial aid I would mention that. However, there are a number of dance BFA programs which continue auditions in March (although check that their application dates have not passed). Another option would be to apply to a University which accepts dance transfers: begin freshman year in liberal arts and apply to transfer into dance for sophmore year.
