Let's say I'm taking dance right now, (I'm a senior) do I have to be a dance major in order to continue? Are there any regular dance classes offered at the universities? I tried asking people, but they give me vague answers.
Thanks!

Absolutely not. It depends on your career aims though. If you want to join a professional company, you want further training-either at college or directly in a company.

If you just want to extend your skills for personal development, enjoyment and maybe to teach later then classes in addition to college would be an excellent choice. You’ll also find campus dance groups, musical theatre productions etc to join in with, too.

Many universities offer dance within their PE offerings. If you’re in a major metropolitan area, you’ll have no problem in finding classes at an advanced level off campus too.

Very good luck. I have 2 left feet and no balance so I envy you greatly.

You will need to ask each of the schools on your list individually. The answer will vary from school to school.

For some of the higher level courses you sometimes need to be a dance major as those classes are given priority to those majoring in dance. It does depend on the university and you just will have to see what is available. You also can join some dance teams, I know several dancers from my dgt’s previous studio who are on teams but are not majoring in dance but are still strong dancers.
