I posted this in the Ithaca category, but it looks like those don’t get viewed as much and I’m in dire need of an answer:
I’m running into a problem. I have the dance combo memorized and ready to record, however, I literally have NO space to record. My house is small and has no room for movement, and I don’t have easy access to my school’s auditorium or a studio. Ithaca is my top school and I would really hate to not apply bc of it!! Help!
Have you checked with your school? They might surprise you with a yes. What about wherever you train your dancing? Another idea would be a library. They usually have some spaces that can be signed out for free or very cheap, and many have big open spaces- some even have small community theater spaces.
I have checked with my school, but they don’t trust their students enough to use it without an administrator present. There isn’t any time during school to do this and after school is being used for play rehearsals, unfortunately. I don’t train anywhere currently. How would I go about asking a community theatre? I don’t have any locally.

My suggestion was a library (and some do have small theater spaces). Does your town have a library? Another option (though not free) would be to pay for a private at a local dance school. Here (in a very expensive COL area) its about $35 for 30 mins. You could let the dance instructor know up front that you really just need the space to film an audition.
If there is a local 24hr fitness place, you could probably pay a day use or visitor fee, and use some of their gym space off hours for quiet and more privacy. The other place would be a church, if you attend or have friends who do, many have a gym or church hall that I’m sure they’d be happy to let you use.
Best of luck! We visited Ithaca in the summer, it is a beautiful school and city and we enjoyed it.
Email a music, choir, or drama teacher. Emails are listed on their website. Preferably someone you know. I’m sure someone would help you. Maybe in the morning before they start.
