I’m a rising junior and this is early to start planning. I’m a dancer and would like to minor in dance. Can anyone share their experience of selecting a college as a dancer, and how it has affected your college experience?
There is a forum on CC that is devoted to dance majors. Since you want to minor in dance, you might find some helpful information there:

My D was a dancer but knew she didn’t want to major/minor in it. She continued it as an EC all through college. She also had a PE requirement and was able to fulfill it with an advanced ballet class.
Does anyone know anything about jazz and modern programs?
What kind of dance?
If ballet, offerings are more limited than, say, contemporary, modern, hip-hop, comp dance.
Here is a good place to start

And the link mentioned up thread:

And you can use the supermatch function in the menu to the left on this page and filter for dance - either major or minor.
Do you know what kind of school you might like to attend - size, setting, region, price point?
JAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Probably a small school
I’d like to get out of RI
Good collegiate dance departments tend to offer a scholarly foundation, over which contemporary, ballet, martial arts and health-based forms of movement are laid. Even if your primary interest is in one style of dance, you would be be likely to advance the furthest within a balanced program. That noted, look for at least some jazz-specific classes through the course catalogs for your colleges of interest.
Keep in mind also that dance programs tend to differ from those of other academic departments, in that the available opportunities will be as much informal as formal.
