Hi,
I’m looking for colleges that have dance programs. I would like to major or minor in dance. I could also just be involved in any type of dance program that the school may offer. I want a small school that is private…
Thanks!

That’s a lot of them. What’s your unweighted GPA? Do you have standardized test scores, and if so what are they? Are you interested in being in a city or suburb, or more rural? Any interest in Greek life? LAC or small/medium research university?
The field needs to be narrowed down for us to provide anything helpful.
Fordham Lincoln Center has a BFA dance program with Alvin Ailey – you need to audition I believe. I’m sure there aer many more if you research. Try using the supermatch function to the left.
Here is a good place to start:

Do you want ballet or contemporary? Ballet is harder to find at small private schools.
Short list to get started: Dickinson, College of Wooster, St. Olaf, Kenyon, Oberlin, Macalester
Also check this for Smtih, Mt Holyoke, Amherst, Hampshire and UMass:
Connecticut College (a strength of the school), Hamilton College (top notch facilities).
Barnard
Muhlenberg
Bucknell
Connecticut College
Reed, Kenyon, Wesleyan, Mt. Holyoke. Sewanee offers good dance opportunities, but no official major or minor.
What else are you looking to study? How much dance experience do you have? I ask because some dance minors start dancers in beginning classes and opportunities to dance are limited outside of the minor or major other colleges have excellent opportunities for non majors and minors to dance. It sounds like Dance would not be your primary major is that correct?
thanks!
