Did anyone apply for the Daughters of the Revolution Scholarships?

My son applied for two of them, a general one (Richard and Elizabeth Dean Scholarship) and one for children of DAR members (Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship).

I applied for the Elizabeth Dean Scholarship.

Has anyone heard thing back or does anyone know decision date?

I know that the application form states that only the winners will be notified. The application form does not give a date for notification of winners, just that winners are notified following approval by the Executive Committee. Just guessing, but I would imagine that winners are announced at the annual DAR Continental Congress (the annual convention in Washington, D.C. in late June) and therefore would be notified prior to then so that they can be invited to awards banquet. As I said, that’s just a guess.

Do any schools take membership in DAR into college admissions? I thought that UVa did.

I have a list of all the scholarships I’ve applied for, and I always note the notification date. I have August 1st as the notification date for DAR, though I can’t find it on the website now. I THINK it might have said August 1st on the postcard they sent when they received my application.

Anybody heard anything?

I was just wondering how competitive this scholarship is? And @living61 does UVA really consider membership?

Just received an email back from my inquiry about the scholarship.
The email said the scholarships were announced in May. I’m wondering if they meant the Good Citizen scholarship. Has anyone heard anything?

I applied for a few (not the Good Citizenship) and haven’t heard anything. A girl from my school got the Good Citizenship though and she knew about that in May, so that may be what they were talking about

Still haven’t heard anything back from DAR.
@BluegrassBulldog I also think they must have been referring to the Good Citizen award

I also applied for national DAR scholarships, but haven’t heard anything. Been checking their website, Twitter, and Facebook as well but no mention of winners.

My daughter received the DAR-Arizona 2 yrs in a row Katherine Dilley Scholarship. Then was invited to the luncheon. We attended the first one, the other was scheduled during her spring sem. and she was attending grad school out of state. She is a Physical Therapy Doctorate Program Student at Touro University in Nevada. It was daunting and a lot of work but worth it. The first year only 2 applied so both girls split the $1000. The second yr she received the full $1000. Not much competition at the local level. Also applied to the National DAR but no luck there. Same app was submitted to both. Oh and neither of us are members in DAR

Did they ever post the winners…

@floridakids Nope I checked their website but there wasn’t any posting.
Has anybody heard anything?
