I don’t really know anything about Dartmouth’s admissions, but it appears that Dartmouth has a bit of a scandal going on, so the wait-list might be more fruitful this year.

If the current kerfluffle has any effect, it will be on the yield for the 17s – not the number of transfer students admitted.

In other words, it’s AboutTheSame.

^^ Couldn’t have said it better myself. :)

Rejected!

But I kind of saw it coming . Community College student with a 3.7 GPA and a 29 ACT. Internships, research experience, and a clear indication of my passion for biology. It was going to be a stretch to begin with! Not worried though, I’ve been accepted into another excellent university!

Congrats to everyone who was accepted ! There are plenty of people who wish they were you guys !

Hey-recently admitted transfer here. Is there a Facebook group for transfers to join?

I was accepted.

GPA: 3.9 (Top 30 liberal arts college); top 4% class rank

ACT: 32

High School: ~3.6 GPA (Attended three different schools: 2 public, 1 private)

Recommendations: 2 “glowing” recommendations from professors I knew very well (advantages of a small liberal arts college), and it so happens that my advisor is an Associate Academic Dean (she wrote the College Official Report for my application)

Work experience/EC’s: varsity soccer player (achieved Rookie of the Year); English TA in Shanghai, China; writing tutor for college students; male ambassador for Students Against Sexual Assault; philosophy club; sitting member of a marketing firm advisory committee; partook in the Oxbridge Tradition –– an academic, cultural immersion experience in Oxfordshire, England (achieved A’s in both Philosophy and Speech/Debate)

Background: strong interest in humanities, philosophy, public policy, law

Additional: accepted as a First-Year Academic mentor for fall 2013; will participate in the Fullbridge Program this summer

I hope this helps.

We should have a Facebook page for transfers

Accepted! Just to chime in- For those who were saying that non-minority students with financial need don’t stand a chance of transferring in, my daughter just got accepted. She’s at an excellent small private school in the South (freshman) on a full merit ride. She loves the school but needed more challenge in her field. We will need financial aid and she is not from a minority background, transferring from a non-Ivy school. She is an outstanding writer- many national awards, 800 CR/800 WR/660 MA SAT, She knew it was a long shot but provided an outstanding essay/application and had some great recs from very supportive professors. Something worked and we’re grateful. Flying up to see it this week and gather all info possible before she makes the final commitment. So- it really can happen, against the odds.

NedNickerson and GoHard, I just created the transfer group on Facebook! For anyone accepted and planning on attending, ask to join the group “2013 Dartmouth Transfers”.

MousheyA, you realize that no one can find your group right? It’s not public and so we can’t search for it.

I also am unable to find the group on Facebook :(

Yeah, didn’t work for me either.

same, only the 2009 group showed up

If someone sends me their real name in a private message, I will create another group (need to add a friend to a group to make it)

@NedNickerson
I would PM you my name and e-mail address, except I can’t due to site restrictions… I’ll see if I can make a few more posts here and there…

My apologies, the group is now open! Search for “2013 Dartmouth Transfers”.
