This guy dodged more bullets than Keanu Reeves in "The Matrix". Congratulations, Karl for a job well done. :)

Karl did an AWESOME job. IMO Dartmouth went from a very pigeon-wholed place to one that is open minded and welcoming. Much of this had to do with Furstenburg. Great job!

There are a few folks interested in Dartmouth athletics - particularly football - who won't be sad to see him go.

They were after his scalp when a letter he wrote to his counterpart at Swarthmore was leaked.

Furstenburg confided that he thought Dartmouth should abolish football as an intercollegiate sport, just as Swarthmore has done.

A year ago, the Dartmouth Review, and a number of alums, urged that he be fired.

True, but there is so much more to the picture than athletics - and there will be many more sad to see him go. He had made an overall profoundly positive contribution.

I thought he was a great guy - 'cause he accepted me :)
