Dartmouth Class of 2019 Early Decision

Yes, probably some Indians and Chinese have applied. But let’s be real, the Caucasian males have come out in force. I think being alone would be better. That way if one wanted company they could find someone but wouldn’t be pressured by having that person around. Carrie Underwood can easily summarize my feelings about Friday “Jesus take the wheel”

Tough friday you have coming up!
Dont worry, worst comes to worst, just wing em! (I kid, thats probably not the best thing to do)

@cheesecake51‌ The question for me is “Do I wake up at 2:45 AM on Saturday to know the decision as soon as it comes out?” :)

@cauldroncastle‌ woah…for me it’s 6:00AM

@aanonymous‌ You’re luckier than me.

@cauldroncastle‌ 0230 for me, so I guess I won’t be sleeping.

@cauldroncastle‌ 5:00 AM for me haha. not sure whether i should wake up early or stay up till then (wont be able to sleep anyway)…

@Dpamp19‌ Chinese?

haha yup! Chinese studying in Singapore :smiley: actually i’m flying from Singapore to China at 13/12 midnight and the result will be released like four hours after I reach home…

@leihou‌ and you know what, college application really makes me hate my citizenship (with all due respect to my beloved homeland). The pool is simply too large and Dartmouth admits so few people :(

@Dpamp19‌ Odds look worse for us Nepalis this time though. 13 applicants from a nation of just 2.5 million people. How many do you think they’ll admit? Maybe 1, maybe none.

I won’t have electricity when decisions are released :(( In South Africa we’ve got this thing called load shedding where certain areas have their power cut off because our national service provider ( think Enron but waaaaay worse) can’t keep up with the demand. Might just have to look in the morning then.

@AfricanStudent32‌ What?? I thought ours was the only nation with loadshedding. How many hours of power do you get? In winters, we get up to 18 hours of powercut everyday. In summers, it’s more like 8-10 hours.

You guys also have load shedding?? I guess we are united in our struggle. Ours isn’t that bad. We get 2 hours slots with normally 1-3 slots per a day. Our biggest concern is that the crime here is outrageous so we don’t really care thaaaat much that we are being inconvenienced but rather that our lives are being put at a greater risk.

@AfricanStudent32‌ Crime isn’t that bad here. So,the problem is power itself. The irony is that even though our country is one of the richest in water resources and has a capacity of generating 84000 MW of power, which is more than enough for a small country like ours, the net production is only about a 1000 MW. And in the winter, when the melting of Himalayan snow decreases, the production also decreases to about 500 MW. But enough with our third-world problems, let’s focus on the topic of the thread. :)

Haha, hopefully if we both get into Dartmouth we can engineer ourselves out of these problems together :wink: knocks on wood

Let’s hope!!

@Dpamp19‌ I guess I probably have friends who know you since they are also part of the exchange program in Singapore. Also yeah dartmouth accept only a few kids from China but those are the kids who don’t have any abroad experience. I’m not that competivie so the only reason I did ED to dartmouth is it’s worth to try tho.

@leihou‌ Good guess… I’m pretty sure you do lol. Good luck!

@Dpamp19‌ Thank and same to you! :slight_smile: I wanna say thanks bro but I’m not sure if you are a guy or a girl haha.
