For those who are waiting, accepted students have until June 1 to notify the school if they are taking a gap year. Good luck everyone!
@baxter Does that mean that more waitlisted students might find out after June 1st? Is there a point at which Dartmouth just ends the waitlist?
Honestly guys the best thing for us is to move on and take this as a rejection, start planning for your other schools. However, keep that 0.00000001% hope in you cuz you never know. If u get chosen let it be a surprise but not something you expect.
I emailed them and they responded that they have made a decision whether they are taking more students yet
have or haven’t? Be clear lol this is scary lol
The scuttlebutt amongst current students is that since the enrollment for the 20s is so high Dartmouth will not be going to its waitlist this year. Enrollment for 18s was 1,210 and the College cut back enrollment for the 19s to 1,116 as 1,210 was considered too many. The 20s already have an acceptance rate at 1,156. Given those numbers I would be inclined to believe what the current students are reporting.
sorry guys. I mean they haven’t made any decisions.
@anythingforDuke Do you mind my asking… are you going to Duke? Or where have you committed to attend (again, if you are comfortable sharing). Thanks.
@Runners I don’t know. I just assume they won’t a true final count of the incoming class before that date.
@NYMom123 I didn’t get into duke, and are currently committed to UCB
at this point i’ve assumed i’m going to where i commit, but still holding on to that tiny hope:/
When will they officially notify that it is over?
any news?
Got an email that said they’ll finalize it in the next three weeks, and that we shouldn’t expect anything. Very few places are available.
Couldn’t tell if it was an extended waitlist or the normal one.
Weird thing is, I removed myself from the waitlist last month.
I received the update as well. Not gonna keep my hope up
omg…I still keep my hope but this is sad…
they said its reasonable to anticipateeee pleasepleaseplease
I just called the admissions office. They said that if you got the second update that everything is okay. They wanted to seek continued interest because they did not intend to go to the wait list. The latest they would get back to us would be July 1st.
Considering they got hundreds of kids to defer admissions, and the fact that some of them may have received wait list offers from other schools, I would say that they might take 10 or so of us off of the wait list. I’m not expecting anything.
@pericolo1021 wait, so not everyone gets the update email?
I believe everyone gets the email. It was good that we got the email; it means we were still on the wait list. I forgot to add that they haven’t accepted anyone when I called them last week. Their wait list usage will probably be so limited that we probably won’t hear about anyone gaining admission on here.
My unofficial estimate is that around 1300 people got wait listed in March, and 900 or so accepted. At this point I would estimate around 500 of us are competing for at most 10 admission slots. Since the end of March, people have taken themselves off of the wait list for various reasons, and with the update coming out of the middle of nowhere, I can safely assume that many haven’t even bothered to reply to it.
Good luck to us all.
Did not know that I got the email update until late but still replied to it. do you think I probably will not be taken off the waitlist?
