I thought that it would be fitting to create this thread as the admissions office finalizes the makeup of Class of 2020. Good luck to all waitlisted applicants!
I’m terrified! Do we know when we’ll hear back?
YungApplicant Thank you for creating this thread.

I hope they’ll tell us soon!
!!
Historically people hear from Dartmouth around the 9th or 10th! good luck everyone <3
GOOD LUCK to all of us!!!
Dartmouth just released this:
Over 53 percent of students admitted to the College’s Class of 2020 accepted offers of admission, yielding a class of 1,156 students from 2,176 accepted students, including 525 who were accepted early decision. The number is an increase from last year’s yield for the Class of 2019 of 50.3 percent, and closer to the Class of 2018’s record yield of 54.5 percent.
So I’m going to take a shot in the dark and guess that they are going to accept 60 kids off the waitlist?
I think that 1156 indicates that Dartmouth is over-enrolled for this year. :’(
Actually ya seems like it.
Class of 2019 is 1,116
Class of 2018 is 1,152
If 2020 is 1,156 then ya doesn’t seem like they are going to accept anyone. Especially if you include the fact that the leaving class of 2016 is a small 1,098
Tears
Also, this year they posted the admit rate on June 1. This year they released it today. The reason why they released it late last year is because:
“The announcement of the yield came slightly later than usual because it felt “premature” to announce earlier while the College was still accepting students from the waitlist, she said.”
(from last year’s post about class of 2019)
This means that they released the stats early probably because they aren’t accepting any waitlisted students.
Im still hoping for a miracle. I’m an international and Dartmouth is really my only option in the US.
Sorry I meant last year they released the class yield on June 1 but this year released it today
Plus, two years ago when they didn’t accept anyone off of the waitlist, they released the article about class yield on May 5
has anyone called admission? Has it been confirmed that they are not looking at the waitlist this year?
sucks for us. They probably not looking into adding more people
@anythingforDuke @YungApplicant @Nvidea123 et al. The Dartmouth quoted in this morning’s edition Interim Dean of Admissions Paul Sunde “the College is not planning to look at the waiting list for at least a few weeks. However, the College will be keeping a close eye on students who change their minds or decide to take a gap year, he said.”
I reread the waitlist letter. They were looking for a class size of 1120. And they now had 1154 so…
