Hey everyone! I applied ED to Dartmouth and am super excited (and a little anxious!) I haven’t seen an early decision thread for the class of 2022 yet, so I decided that I would start one up.
joining the thread
I submitted my application last week. Haven’t heard anything about an interview yet. Hopefully soon.
Thanks for joining. If you don’t mind me asking… why did you chose Dartmouth for ED?
Does anyone know if there is a facebook group for ED class of 2022 applicants yet?
in answer to your question, of all the ivy leagues, dartmouth was the only one everyone in my family liked, and it was my favorite as well. felt at home and fell in love with their language program.
Same here. I visited a couple of months ago and fell in love with the campus. I like that it feels smaller than the other colleges I’ve looked at. After visiting I decided to apply ED. It seems that the ED chances are better than regular decision.
Joining the thread! I am an ED applicant, in love with the Dartmouth vibe
Has anyone heard anything about interviews yet?
These are assigned to alumni by district enrollment directors. I just received assignments yesterday and haven’t had a chance to contact the students yet. I’m guessing plenty don’t even have their assignments yet, so just know that these are still being assigned and you should hear something soon. (And also know that they have very little effect on admission decisions, so treat your interview as an opportunity to find out more about the college.)
I got an email today from my alumni interviewer about scheduling an interview.
just got an email about an interview!
Just a quick note to wish all of you much luck! As a Dartmouth alumna who loves her college as dearly as when I graduated many years ago, I’m so happy to hear how excited you are about the prospect of going there. It truly is a special place.
thank you so much!
I still haven’t gotten an interview, but I also haven’t sent in all my test scores (I took the October 28 ACT). Do they usually just wait until after the scores are in or do I just need to wait a little more before a potential interview
Do interviewers know anything about the candidate they are interviewing prior to meeting them? Like for example do they receive any sections of the applicants application or essays? Or are they just going in blind without any information?
@dgaylord18, I’m sure that wouldn’t affect you being assigned. Interview assignments are handled by region by volunteers who serve as district enrollment directors, so those assignments go out at different times to the interviewers–and then the interviewers have to get in touch with students after that. Obviously, some areas are going to have a lot more alums who choose to interview than other areas, so that could be a factor too. I do know they’re trying to do more Skype interviews for students living in areas where there aren’t enough alums. I also remember seeing emails from my district enrollment director pleading for additional interviewers much later in November, so just hang tight for now.
@reinian18, the only information we have is name, school, city of residence, and contact information. They purposefully don’t give us information about GPA/test scores or anything else–that’s the admissions office’s job to evaluate. We just want to get to know you better as a person in a way a paper application can’t. The best interviews are truly a conversation between two people, so approach it that way. We volunteer because we care about our college and we care about finding students who will be wonderful additions to the student body. I would say that if there are aspects of your life that aren’t reflected in your application–for example, significant family obligations that aren’t apparent–that’s certainly something to share with your interviewer because it’s a perspective that can help the admissions office better evaluate your application. (And of course, be careful about inappropriate oversharing too…)
Finally, in light of another very active thread on CC right now, please know that we’re not allowed to conduct interviews in our own home, so if you receive a request for an in-home interview, it means the interviewer is not following college policies.
funny you say that… my interview is over skype! im curious if anyone else’s is too?
Hi! I applied for Dartmouth as ED as well but haven’t heard about the interview yet Till when do they send out interview offers?
Our college counselor told us that if we don’t get interview offer for HYPS + Dartmouth, we have no chance of getting in. Is this true…?
im no expert, but i was under the impression that they tried to give everyone an interview, and that they weren’t a measure of your application. i wouldn’t worry.
