Dartmouth: Easy To Get Into?

Is Dartmouth an easier school to get into (compared to the other Ivy Leagues)? When people speak about the ivies, I barely hear anything about Dartmouth and I’m sure that less people apply to there.

It’s all relative. Dartmouth’s overall acceptance rate is 8.4%, lower than Cornell, comparable to Penn, higher than the other Ivies. It also accepted the fewest number of applicants of any of the Ivies. So, I guess it might be considered “easier” but it’s certainly not “easy.”

I see Ivy selectivity like this for undergrad:

  • Cornell Dyson
  • Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Penn Wharton
  • Columbia
  • Penn, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell Engineering
  • Cornell (rest)

In terms of quality, they’re all awesome, and apps should be sent based on fit and cost.

If I misread the Cornell admissions graph by school, please correct me.

So overall, I’d say Dartmouth is about as selective as Brown (slightly higher admit rate but also higher stats) and non-Wharton Penn.

Dartmouth is probably a little more selective than Cornell U, with obvious exceptions in Dyson and Engineering and a couple other Cornell schools.

You can google the acceptance rate of Dartmouth (or any other college) yourself. All of the Ivy (and other top tier) schools are highly competitive in terms of admissions.
