Dartmouth email address for ED 2010s

I know the standard format for a dartmouth email is firstname.middleinitial.lastname@dartmouth.edu

Is there anyway to set up the email account now? for facebook?

I don't think so.

I know someone who just uses their first name.

I went back in the 09 myspace group, the password is going to be the last 8 digits of your social security number, but i dont think they get set up until june. i tried, it didnt work.

i also read somewhere something about having someone change their blitz name to your first.mid.last and setting up and confirming your facebook then changing it back. is there some way to set up new blitz accounts for clubs/groups? maybe we could get someone to set up a new blitz account that we could change the blitz name on a bunch of times and all set up our facebooks...

After you set up your initial e-mail account (using your real name) you can set up a set up a bunch of "aliases" and sign up for clubs/ groups where you would then receive e-mails regarding events

Well i dont know what's going on now, but i do know that you had better tell us all if we get our Dartmouth email names...facebook is awaiting our arrival.

we get them in june

Just wanted to let you know if you want to try out ways of accessing your blitz acounts. I signed in today, but accidentally didn't type in the right password. It prompted me to try again but it also mentioned something about how to format if you're typing in a birthday.

So maybe instead of SSN this year they've set the standard password as your birthday?

"If you're typing a birthday don't forget the dashes"

The new students are generally not added to the DND (Dartmouth Name Directory) until about the 2nd or 3rd weeks of June. Even last year, the password varied from case to case. It could be your birthday, or it could be your SSN. [This presented a problem for international students, many of whom had to wait till getting on campus to get their password.] And it could be some combination of everything. Mine was the MIDDLE SEVEN digits of my SSN. It could be anything.

If you know someone at Dartmouth (cough cough), they can help you set up an account for the time being. They will put your "firstname.middleinitial.lastname" as one of their DND nicknames, sign up for a facebook account with that, activate it, and then delete the nickname and give you the password to the Facebook account. Voil

In the first year book + other papers, it said we got our email addresses/passwords on Computer Distribution day during Orientation! I sincerely hope that is not true.

it is, but people generally figure it out way before then.

I'm a '10 living in CT, and my international roomie found out before I did that (at least for me) the email address format would be firstname.lastname@Dartmouth. So I went on to http://netblitz2.dartmouth.edu/ and typed firstname.lastname in the username field and the last 8 digits of my SSN in the password field and it worked! I hope this helps some of the other '10s who wanted to know.

You can also just go to www.basement.dartmouth.edu and type in your username and password after clicking 'mail.' I'm getting a lot of random crap though--hopefully they fix it when the year starts. See you soon.
