any accepted ed or pending rd should check out and see if there is a regional
holiday party given by dartmouth alums..
for example: next sat the 17th there is one in central florida (orlando, cocoa bch etc)..at a beautiful country club...for the ed the alums make a big fuss ..and a good meet and greet for rd...dont worry about last minute they are usually glad to have you..parents are usually welcome

many times the web sites are not up to date so check dates carefully

ashleylois...upcoming applicants are invited in central florida

Just had the Shoreline Connecticut Dartmouth Alum Holiday Party Thursday the 15th. My interviewer emailed an invitation--not sure if you can just go.

I was invited last year, I think they got my name from Dartmouth but I don't know. It was wonderful. There were quite a few Dartmouth students there along with a dozen or so prospects. Food-drink. The best was the Dartmouth a cappella group.

We met quite a few people and were given a great impression of Dartmouth. If you have the chance to attend one of these, don't miss it. It helped sell me on Dartmouth: what an alumni network!

Is there one for the NY/LI area? I'm not sure if I'd want to go (not that huge on holiday functions), but if it could help admissions chances (can it?) then I should at least consider it. Also, is it at someone's house or a hotel? Do I need to get invited, or do I ask someone if I can go (I haven't sent in my app yet, will probably do it this week, so they might not have my name)? Is it intimidating? Is it you and your parents that go, or just you? Sorry about all the questions.

im sure by now the parties are over...we just had the central florida
party at the winter park racquet club...parents were invited but charged 30 dollars..any current or hopeful student was free...didnt need an invite just sign up at door if last minute
meet and greet for an hour and sit down dinner follow..there were no eds there and about 9 hopeful rds..4 current students who gave a one minute speech on what their experience was like at dartmouth
then four older alumni spoke including thad seymour sr who is a legend at dart as fomer dean during the animal house era..in our area they do two parties a year the other a spring picnic..

Yea I was the only ED at the party, no other hopefuls from the area, although there were three other current students. The D. Athletic director spoke, good dinner (at the Mystic Hilton), then we (they) all had a few drinks, and circled up for the alma mater of Dartmouth...which was a bit awkward because not only did i not know the words, I couldn't even hum the tune. Oh well...comes with time, I suppose. Oh and for some reason i was Warned about our freshman DOC trips--sounds like upperclassmen trickery will be in full swing. Stay close fellow tens--I happen to know we have the best class ever.

metsfan-it won't help you in the admissions process, it is more of a way to speak to currents students and alums and get to know the school better.
