Hey guys,

I'm currently an international high school senior considering the option of ED application to both schools' engineering programs. I'm looking for a liberal arts engineering education (probably majoring in Chemical Engineering; in Dartmouth's case I'd pursue a modified Engineering Science major and for UPenn the ) because I want to graduate and enter the financial or management consultancy industries. It's more the engineer MINDSET that I'm after.

Both schools seem to be great for this purpose, I'm just having trouble deciding between which one to apply ED and give more preference. My dad attended Tuck's MBA program, so I guess that helps legacy-wise but I believe UPenn's degree as a Bachelor of Engineering would need one year less than Dartmouth's (and may be more highly regarded).

Does anyone have some advice that could help me choose? Thanks in advance!

Please! I need help, and I came here knowing that you guys are experts.

I don’t think a lot of engineers hang out here, and you can’t expect a response within a few hours. The ED deadline is November 1. Relax. I believe there was a similar thread here last year, but it might have been Duke/Dartmouth. The concept of going into management rather than straight engineering rings a bell. Do some searching.

And, if you are this torn between the two, ED may not be the right choice for either.

Alright man, thanks. I’m new here so I’m sorry if I came off as desperate. I’ll definitely look into that in the meantime.

I don’t think you are going to find a ton of advice on here for this issue - relatively few people on this forum entered engineering for the purpose of being non-engineers.

I am also not sure what you mean by this, but you don’t have it now and will not get it going to those schools with those aspirations. You appear to be looking for a broad and theoretical engineering education, visibility to Wall Street, and a degree that says “engineering” on it, which either of those schools can provide.
