Dartmouth receives $100 million to support academic excellence

<p>President Hanlon just announced that $100 million (200 million over a few years; it's a matching grant) has been donated by an anonymous donor, "to strengthen our ability to cluster faculty around areas where Dartmouth stands to have a profound impact on the world. The gift will also benefit the student academic experience, with students and faculty actively engaged in exciting new areas of research and scholarship, broadened opportunities for transformative experiential learning, and the creation of innovative, interdisciplinary courses that will expose students to these global challenges."</p>

<p>This is the largest single grant in the history of the college, and it gives Hanlon a huge boost in his new tenure, and his stated goal of shaping undergraduate excellence for the next century. </p>
