I would like to know how top LACs compare to a slightly larger school like Dartmouth. Thanks for any responses!
It depends on the LAC. there is probably a 50/50 split between students admitted at Dartmouth/Amherst and Williams as they probably have more similarities than differences.
give it a minute and you will see a number of threads where students are choosing between Dartmouth and either Amherst, Williams Notre Dame and Duke (although ND and Duke are not LACs).
My D was accepted to Dartmouth, Amherst and Williams in her cycle. She went to admitted student days and saw many of the same students at all 3 visits (some which are still her friends to this day).
One friend she met at Amherst and decided to attend Amherst ended up being her law school room mate. D matriculated at Dartmouth with about 5 other students that she met at admitted student days at Amherst/Williams. Her BF at Dartmouth got her first job through a connection she made at Williams during their admitted student days and kept in touch with so she was able to refer her BFF to him.
Darthmouth is the most LAC-like if the ivies… I am considering applying to Williams, MIT, Dartmouth, and other LACs
