Dartmouth Waitlist??

If you decide not to send in an updated spring transcript, would your chances of getting off the waitlist decrease dramatically?

I hope not. I don’t get any updated transcript until mid-June…

Of the 4 people that applied at my small school to Dartmouth: 2 got in, 1 waitlisted (me), 1 rejected. Both of my friends that got in aren’t going to Dartmouth, do you think that will effect me on whether or not I get off the waitlist? Do places like Dartmouth have some sort of quota for some schools that continuously have kids apply to dartmouth?

I somehow got on the waitlist and I have a lower GPA UW 3.5 and just outside of top 10%. Do I have no chance of getting off or the fact that I got on it mean something?

^ I was wondering the same thing. my sat score is 1690 and somehow i made it into the waitlist. Does this mean that i don’t even have a chance? My GPA is okay (4.4) and it’s going to get higher this upcoming report card.
I feel blessed that they put me in the waitlist, but if i have no chance, they shouldn’t tease me like this :[
I want to go so badly to Dartmouth.

If you want to attend D “so badly” you should drop everything you are doing and retake as many tests as you can: ACT/SAT and/or subject tests.

Last year a CC kid with SATs around 600 in every section of the SAT got in off the waitlist. He was also an URM and, if memory serves, an immigrant. Clearly he had something they were looking for other than top stats. You just never know.

Can you retake and send updated scores when you’re on the waitlist?

kiterunner:

when you are on a WL, it’s no time to be timid. It can help to give them a reason to pull you off of the WL instead of someone else.

GPA is essentially fixed – a few more A’s won’t much matter. OTOH, test scores are one thing that can (easily?) be upgraded, particularly is they are significantly below a threshold…

^ Alright, thanks for the tips. Hopefully I didn’t miss the deadline for the May SAT…

Won’t wait list decisions be made around early May … what’s the point of taking a May SAT.
