Well, I am a guy and I have no date for prom. Unfortunately, none of my close friends are going and I bought a ticket. Should I even bother going.

Unless you can sell your ticket (because they're usually expensive), I think you should go. Why don't you ask someone to be your date?

erm....no, I don't think so.
I'm a girl who's not going (other reasons than no date)

but it just seems like prom is awkward for guys...and they are just doing it "for girls". But, if you really like school dances by yourself...I don't know.

Plus, a lot of prom is based on couples. Like limos, etc, I don't know.

It depends what your school's prom is like. Do guys often go alone? If not, you could try asking around. There must be some girl who doesn't have a date and wants one, and would be happy to go with you.

If it's like in a school gym then I wouldn't really bother...but if your school's getting a reallllly nice place like mine did then you need to start searching for a date. :P

prom is like in one week, I think I have no hope :(

try to find out which girls still need dates bc chances are there's got to be some left
and ask one of them lol...

i think its a total double standard.. like it's weird for guys to go stag but i know tons of girls who go stag... i say suck it up, go, have fun!

ask underclassmen, i doubt they have dates
ask girls you know from other schools, its not like they have prom the same night..

Lori1122's advice is good. It's about a week before our prom, too, and I know plenty of girls who would still like dates, myself included (even if its not essential to us, it would still be fun).

Also, think hard: are there any girls who you think might be crushing on you? Sometimes guys can be oblivious to such things, even when the girl thinks it is blatantly obvious.

Haha. My girlfriend broke up with me a week after I bought prom tickets. I don't even want another date, and I keep telling myself to bite the bullet and go despite knowing she'll be there with someone else. I'll go if you go. :)

Alex

You should go anyway. I'm sure there will be people there you know and you can hang out with them.

Depends if you want to get a girl for the sake of having a date. I personally won't want to spend a few hundred extra bucks for some girl I sat next to in calculus. Going stag isn't bad as long as you have a group.

Hey, guys who go solo are the smart ones. They get all the solo girls. And I really don't think prom is for couples. After all, couples start breaking up around that time anyway because everyone is going in different directions.

Alexx, sorry about your gf. But hey, that's the right attitude, go have fun at prom.

Mom chiming in here...bite the bullet and ask someone...anyone! If you don't like anyone form your school and you're allowed to ask an outside person, ask a girl from work, church, community center where you volunteer. Any neighborhood girls that you know that go to a private HS? Girls love an excuse to get dressed up, but don't wait too long...even girls don't want to be asked the night before!

I agree with Oaksmom..

ask someone and gooooo

Twolfs4life....did you ask anyone????

Go with a group of friends. That way there's less awkwardness when you and the girl you ask have nothing in common, and you know you can enjoy yourself with your friends. That's what I'm doing.

that's exactly why I don't like prom: no date for me while some other guy has like 4 offers from girls. I sense a revolution and "redistribution"......
