What college would have both good theater program and good support for an Aspie? Daughter is excellent test taker and writer, but highly disorganized has social difficulties. We live in NYC. Willing to travel to a certain extent.

Carnegie Mellon. Ideal.

Is she thinking of a conservatory program to get a BFA, or a BA?

Go try UC Berkeley, they have excellent programs for kids with learning differences, but they require a extremely competitive GPA to get into that school. If not, go for USC or UCLA. If your daughters grades aren’t good enough for those schools, try Chapman in California.

My Two Cents,

Adelphi has a very strong BFA in theater. It is audition-based. It is also known as a school with good LD support, but I don’t know about for Asperger’s in particular.

You might want to post this on the theater forum. There is a long archived thread there where you can read in general about being a theater major, including how to decide between a BA/BFA, how to handle auditions, what the experience is once you get there, etc.

What about McDaniel in MD? Check that book Colleges that Change Lives, they mention a lot of colleges that are more student-centered.
