My D is a student at the University of Alabama. She would like to study abroad a semester - possibly in a French speaking country. In looking at the UA Semester Exchange Program - it looks like possibilities could be:
Belgium - HEC - University of Liege
France - Bordeaux Management School; University of Francois-Rabelais-Tours; University of Poitiers.
Other possibilities could be:
England - University of Birmingham; University of Hull; University of Leicester

Wales - Aberystwyth University

Does anyone have knowledge of any of these schools?
D is currently studying Business.
Look for a good starting place as she starts exploring.
Thank you!

Birmingham is a good solid university in a very large city, lots of cultural things to see and do and it has good transport links to most places in the country and Europe. Hull is an alright university in a horrible city. Leicester is a mediocre university in a not very interesting city. Aberystwyth is a very pretty, small town in rural Wales. The university is pretty good in general, it is world famous for its international relations department. The majority of locals speak Welsh as their first language although everyone will of course speak English. It has a train station but it is quite isolated by UK standards (3-4 hours to the nearest airport, 4-5 hours to London).

If it were me, I’d go to France or Belgium.

Thanks, Nordicblue…very helpful!

Hello,

I am French and will try my best to give you more informations. Bordeaux is a really beautiful on the Atlantic coast, people are friendly, and also it is known for his wines :p. It is sunny most of the time, and you have a port. I have not a lot of information about the university, but I heard it is a good one. For Tours and Poitiers, I do not really know more about these two cities, but my father have been there and told me it is really beautiful. It also told me it is hard to live there during the winter because it is cold. Near Tours you have a lot of Chateaux of the Loire to visit, and they are beautiful.

I am from Marseille (Southeast of France) if she can go to Euromed, I will suggest her to go their. It is a really good school for management or business, and one of the best in France.

What is her level in French? A lot of old people don’t speak English in France, and young people use a lot of slang languages, etc… I would recommend her to go in France because it would be a unique experience, and being able to speak fluently two languages would be a plus for her career.
