Good luck with that; look forward to the results of that recommendation.
I agree that hiring help isn’t usually often. There are always schools with openings at this point, but it may require a compromise in selectivity, location, team competitiveness etc.
It would be great if OP could clarify details about their situation. From the question, it sounded like OP took recruiting to be something that is done by the coach - someone will call you, etc. This is a huge an extremely common misconception that often leaves athletes with no options. The reality is that, aside from super stars, 80% of this process is on the athlete. They have to put themselves in front of the coaches over and over and over.
We need OP to engage with someone who knows re process and can quickly assess chances. Perhaps CC members feel they can accurately do that, but I personally wouldn’t rely on CC for that. OP and D seem lost in the woods.
I’ll assume we’re done with this debate unless the OP has questions. Right now, there are more questions asked of the OP which needs answers before any meaningful advice can be provided by CC members.
I know a kid who was given an offer to play golf in AUGUST for D2 a few years ago. It’s certainly not as easy as doing it early, and many schools will be off of the table. But it isn’t like all schools are done, with any sport. There is a big difference between high D1 athletic teams, high academic teams (D1 and D3) and everyone else. One week before classes start (my example above) is unusual, but in most sports there are still a few kids getting recruited here and there until at least May. The schedule has moved up a bit the last few years, but a lot of the time in wrestling I see NAIA schools not making much progress filling out a class until spring, when the kids left standing know they likely aren’t getting any D1 or D2 offers.
I can tell you the current situation of golf recruiting from own experience: if the player is handicap + he will have been recruited since one two years.
From handicap 0 to 2 there will be closed commitments during 2023. handicaps 2 to 4 will be closing commitments with low NAIA and DII
It also depends on what stage they are in regarding the SAT exam taken (if they have taken one or not).
This is not the case with women’s golf, where players with average scores in the low 80s can be recruited. A not insignificant proportion of golf scholarships for women’s teams go unused each year, especially in D2. Hopefully OP comes back to this thread.
I hope the OP comes back and answers our questions. Until that time…this is all…speculation.
