Our S19 is choosing his teachers for recommendations this week and I’ve been looking through the websites of the schools on his list to see how many recs they need. For Davidson, it looks like there’s a separate form with specific questions that the teacher needs to fill out. At our school, most letters of recommendation are just written by the teacher and then uploaded to Naviance and then the counselor releases them to the schools that need them. The teachers are free to write what they like.
So…with Davidson, I guess he needs a teacher who is also willing to fill out this Davidson-specific form and send in a hard copy? How did any current applicants handle that? Did you have any other schools that had specific forms for the recommendations?
@homerdog " At our school, most letters of recommendation are just written by the teacher and then uploaded to Naviance and then the counselor releases them to the schools that need them. The teachers are free to write what they like."
Our counselor says that sometimes these are emailed to teachers, and other times the forms are downloaded. Her way of doing it was to collect the hard copy from the teacher and upload it to Naviance herself vs. having the teacher do it, although our teachers CAN do it. She just likes knowing that it is ready to submit. Our counselor actually doesn’t remember if the form for Davidson was electronically sent or not.
I watched D fill out a peer recommendation form for a classmate who also applied to Davidson, and that was electronic.
