Can a current student please provide some background on the social scene at Davidson? Also, are there any distinct political or religious vibe to the campus? Thanks.
Hey! I’m a perspective student so I don’t have as much knowledge… but I just did an overnight and the students there told me about the political/religious aspect, but idk much about the social scene.
The college is definitely left-leaning (almost every LAC is), so if you fall in the left you’ll be surrounded by people that share your same beliefs. But, because the college is in the south it’s not as left-leaning as the LACs in the Northeast. One student told me about the “triangle” that’s made from Raleigh, Charlotte, and Durham and in that triangle NC is more left-leaning or moderate, but outside the triangle it’s conservative
As for religion, you can make it as big or as little a part of your stay on campus. Most students are little, if at all, religious. All but one student I talked to weren’t religious in the least. If religion is something you’re looking for while at college they offer free transportation to whatever service you’d like if the college itself doesn’t offer any services. There’s also a Quaker church a street down that you could go to, and next year the college is adding a Buddhist clergy
I hope that helps!
