Dang taffy, kinda harsh there.

yeah, that was pretty harsh taffy. but it's alright,i agree my stats are low, but i did have a lot of hardships. just take into consideration not everyone has the time to study diligently when they have obligations such as working to help support their family and other family hardships. so before you throw out a comment like that just think not EVERYONE started offf the same.

yes i agree that was harsh considering your circumstances i suppose, but it is true, since uc's tend to emphasize more on academics and numbers rather than personal circumstances, although they are taken into consideration somewhat.

you could appeal by writing about your hardships and justifying why your scores may have seemed so low, and point out your ec's.

I dont think he was being harsh at all. maybe if you were going to appeal on the grounds of spending all your study-time on family problems (i see you posted "Lots of EC") you should have stated that in the stats you posted above (why did you post them if they had nothing to do with your appeal?).

First of all, CONGRATS to everyone who got in! You're all very lucky to get into such a great school. Even if you think you have better schools you'd rather go to visit Davis anyway. I did and I eventually chose it over USC! Sometimes a school is just a perfect fit for you and you'll never know until you visit. Davis is one of those mysterious schools that not a lot of city people(like me) knew about but were overwhelmed when they visited.

Secondly, check out Prophasi's post on the third page, it really is very informative. Props Proph, you hit up on all the major points.

I don't want to emphasize this too much, because it's being said all around, but Davis really is on the way up. Just looking around campus, from all the construction of brand new, state of the art buildings, to the great, very involved student body, to our killer sports which are beating STANFORD consistently, Davis is really a great place to be right now.

And now the second part of my post since I couldnt post both in the same message...

Getting into a "better" school means nothing. I have two close friends(and know plenty others) who got into Cal and UCLA but are coming here instead. The reason is that they didn't want to get killed with work at those schools and that the competition for anything from jobs to research positions is very tough. Davis will allow you to study hard but also have a LOT of fun on the side while still maintaining grades. Davis isn't an ultra-difficult university like some other places, it's got the balance that an ideal university should have.

Once again, congrats to everyone who got in!

accepted into design. does anyone know how good/strong their design/art program is?

I love their web-site. Here is the link. I wish I could go back to school in this major!
