Davis Decisions are up!

prouds60man, did you want to go to davis?

No, I did not really want to go to Davis - don't know much about it, but I am just concerned about UCSB now (it was my choice after UCLA), because I thought I would get into Davis.

"Is Davis focused on Extra Ciric more than some other UCs? I got accepted to UCR and UCI, denied at LA. "

UC Davis is highly GPA and SAT driven. There is a set number of point and specific amounts of points are allocated to GPA, Sat scores, the personal statement and ECs. I believe they have that list of point allocation somewhere on the website a year ago when I applied. Similar to UCSD, about 75% of the points will be based on GPA and Sat scores.

decision: accepted
major: undeclared

Rejected! Yeah...it hit me pretty hard simply because the admittance percentage was around 55%. WOW. I go to one of the most competitive public high schools in the state and pulled off similar stats to those of Chrisr88. I'm still waiting for decisions from UCI, UCSB and UCSD. As any of you can imagine, knowing that I was rejected from UCD, I am very unsure about getting into any of those campuses. I too applied as Undeclared...for every UC Campus I applied to. I'm beginning to think that applying as Undeclared is not a very smart decision. All I can think of at the moment about this is...'WTH'!

well, my friend who barely, and I do mean BARELY qualified to apply got in with a sub 3.0 UC GPA (or was it 2.92?). All I can say was the essay really got the job done and in explaining his situation. The essay is a great tool that all of us should be appreciative about.

^Agreed. My stats were far below average, but I got in because of my essay.

i have a really tough time deciding between irvine and davis right now... i got into biological sciences for both. waiting for ucsd

which one has a better science department?

Chris88 and GeneraLee, I know rejection feels crappy, but honestly you may end up somewhere that is absolutely perfect for you.
Davis was 1st choice for my niece, but she was not accepted. She chose UCSC over UCSB and has been really happy there.

man im so angry they rejected me when my rejection letter comes im gonna whipe my ass with it and set it on fire! good thing i got in ucsb

I believe outstanding EC's and great (different) essays really help when your average SATs and low GPA is shady.

Accepted, for Biomedicalengineering and a Regent scholarship with a special honors program. Still not sure if I am going to attend though.

Congrats. I got biomedical engineering too, but no scholarship or honors for me. :(

"man im so angry they rejected me when my rejection letter comes im gonna whipe my ass with it and set it on fire! good thing i got in ucsb"

you are VERY lucky that ucsb took you. i wouldn't expect davis to admit you, so im not sure what you're so angry about.... maybe some megadeth will calm you down.

Generalee,

Good luck at the other mid-tier UCs. Odds are you'll get into at least one of them. I personally was accepted at others, but not Davis 2 yrs. ago, but I REALLY wanted to go, so I appealed and got in. Consider this option.

-Happy Davis student

Admitted.

Stats posted at UCI decision thread.

Thanks syneria and I might just see you at Davis in the Fall. If not good luck and I wish you well!

EcK,

I don't exactly remember what I said in my appeal letter, but I basically followed their instructions for appeal. Here's the link:

http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/admissions/fr_nonadmitted.cfm

"If you choose to appeal, your letter should describe information not included in your original application. This may be compelling information regarding personal circumstances and its impact on your academic performance, or possible errors in your application. You should include your fall 2005 and/or winter 2006 courses and grades, and your current spring 2006 courses."

I basically stated additional extra curricular activities I was involved in as well as corrected my GPA (it was a nudge higher than I stated) and I sent in evidence to back up my ECs (like a copy of my cash prize(check) in a national chess competition). If you can, retake the SAT IIs (they seem a bit low-all of mine were at least in the mid-600s) and hopefully you raised your grades since you'll need to send in fall and winter senior grades. I think that your major significantly hurt your chances to be honest, but also keep in mind, the average enrolled student here has between a 3.7 and a 3.9. I'd appeal while considering other UCs until you get your answer. If you're not accepted, you'll have a back up. If you are, WOOOHOOO!

Good Luck! Go the extra mile in this appeal (by including documentation, it might just pay off later)
