Hi guys,

I originally declared that I would be living on campus and Davis gave me ~13k entering UG scholarship. However, they ran out of housing before I could pay the housing deposit so I ended up finding housing elsewhere. If I indicate that I have a housing status change, will they give me less of a scholarship? Will anything happen if I don't tell them I'm living off campus?

Thanks!

It depends on how Davis calculates cost of attendance. Some school have only one COA for all students regardless of where they live. Some calculate different COAs for student who live on campus, off campus and off campus with parents.

If the Davis does the latter and the off-campus COA is less then you may see a reduction in your aid to match to new COA.

If you don’t report that you’re living off campus, the FA office may not release any FA refund you have coming to you (that you will be using to pay for books, rent and food) because it’s waiting to receive a housing and meal plan charge for the dorm.
