Hi! My DD is considering between these two schools for the sport management program. We are from the NE and would like to know what you think of these two schools. Both are Catholic, which is not a problem as we are also. Which school do you think is better and would have better opportunities with in the sport field. We loved both schools. cost is the same for us. Any help appreciated!

Have you visited both? (I can't tell for sure from your post). If so, was there one your daughter felt fit her better?

She has not visited Xavier, that is planned for this weekend. Her concern is the better reputation in terms of graduating and getting a job. We can read their stats, etc. but usually colleges will have a reputation regionally that goes beyond rankings and stats. For example, in NYS I can tell you schools that have good reputations but may not be ranked. In the end, she will go where she feels most comfortable, but I have a feeling it will be a close decision. Therefore, just wondering about some other factors to think about on the pro and con list.

My husband works in college athletics, and I can tell you that any undergrad will be fine, it's more about their master's degree in terms of getting good jobs. She should just plan on getting her master's as all college athletics jobs say, "master's preferred" and almost all candidates have their masters, so it would be a real strike against her not to have it. And she should try to go to Ohio University for that - they have far and away the best program in the country for sports management (and phenomenal, phenomenal connections all over the country).

So either school will do, and she should try to work in their athletic department to make contacts and get exposure. The marketing folks always need help, as do ticketing and the study areas. If there are no paid positions, volunteer a few hours a week in marketing - you'll learn a lot and meet everyone.
