Dayton wants to see my 7th semester grades?

Hi everyone - I’m a little new to CC so correct me if I do anything wrong. My situation is that I just received word back from Dayton saying that they would like to see my 7th semester grades before making a decision on my enrollment. Problem is that I received this note after taking my final exams for my 7th semester. I’ve got a 2.8-2.9 GPA with a really strong ACT score (33) and I attend whats considered on of the best/most challenging private schools in my area. However, I slacked off a bit 7th semester and its looking like my GPA for the semester will be around a 2.5. For anyone familiar with this sort of situation, what do you think my odds are? In addition to this, is there anything else I can do to boost my chances? Dayton has been my top choice for a while now and I would hate to get denied. Thanks in advance for the help.

Jack

I would say that they are likely looking for continued improvement. So, sending in a 2.5 will not help your chances. But, obviously if they are asking, you are going to have to send it in anyway. So all we can really tell you is good luck, and hopefully your wait is not too long.

You’re flashing all the warning signs of students who don’t do well at their school. They’re concerned that if enrolled, you’ll be distracted and never complete their program – evidenced by your recent actions. Your GPA is more indicative of the likelihood of collegiate success rather than your ACT. Perhaps you should take time off to see if returning to the classroom for the next 4-5 years is right for you rather than dive in with tuition and loans and such. Good luck but I think Dayton at best, will offer you probationary admission (i.e. if you don’t maintain a minimum 1st and 2nd semester GPA, they drop you).
