Chances of admission?

I visited Dayton last week and loved it, definitely #1 on my list. Guidance counselor says that I have some chance at getting in, but after looking at the admissions profile online, I'm not so sure. Had poor grades freshmen and sophomore years of HS, but great grades junior and senior years (so far). So my cumulative GPA is low (2.49), have not gotten very good SAT's (720 CR and 510 Math), but taking it again soon, and have a great essay (so I've been told). Lots of community service and activities every year. Does Dayton consider large improvements at all? Do I even have a chance at admission? Do I need to look at a less selective school? Very worried about admission. Thanks for your help.

Always consider other schools, no matter the stats. Dayton is great but with your GPA it’s not a clear shot. I would say apply, but don’t be surprised if you are waitlisted/denied. Dayton’s got great merit aid, but it’s dependent on scores and GPA. with your GPA you wouldn’t get a large amount of aid if you were to be accepted. If you do get in/attend, don’t waste it and party all the time, as they have asked people to leave in the past. Admissions takes into account your intended area of study- if you want to be an engineer/science major you’ll need better scores than say, business or education.

I hate to sound harsh, but that’s life. Good luck!

hi, i am international from pakistan how about 4.0 GPA and CR(600),MATH(750),WRITING(700) with full aid
