I'm a junior from the DC suburbs looking at colleges and am very interested in GWU. Understandably, I'm a bit wary of attending a college so close to home. Is there anyone from the DC area who's attended GWU who can tell me what it's like to go to school in your hometown? How's the social life? I would most definitely not be living at home, so how's the dorm situation? I've heard there's not much sense of school and campus identity at GWU-- is that true, and if so, is that a problem?

Additionally, I'm a pianist with a lot of experience as an accompanist but am not interesting in majoring in music-- would it make sense to speak to the music department about playing for them before I apply and how might I go about doing this?

How's the history department at GWU?

So many questions... and I've only just discovered College Confidential... sigh

Thanks. ~MAP
