Deadline

So I'm gonna submit the actual application by Nov 1st but my SAT scores and transcript/recs probably won't reach there for a week (after the priority deadline). Should I still hear back around late January?

Yes, it shouldn’t be a problem. It takes them weeks to even update that they’ve received your transcript and SAT scores. As long as the app is in on time you should be fine.

Yeah, I submitted my app last weekend and it took them about five days to update it saying that my transcript/essays/recs have been received. It still doesn’t show that my test scores have been received even though I sent them 9/6. I suppose they just haven’t finished updating it yet.

Total…if you sent them 9/6, by now they should have updated their system. It does happen that things fall through the cracks. I’d wait until the end of the week and call them if it still doesn’t show your test scores. It would suck if you have to reorder (and re-pay) to have your scores sent, but it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen it happen here.

Hm I’ll try calling tomorrow. Do you know if the scores are sent electronically or via snail mail? I figured that if they were sent electronically there’d be little chance of them getting lost.

College-board sends scores to UMD electronically. I got an email saying so when I sent them a couple weeks ago. Mine have been received and processed, so there seems to have been a problem with yours.

I also received an email from CB saying that they were received and processed. Does the UMD document tracking site say that yours have been received?

Yeah, that’s what I meant. My test scores showed up as processed on UMD’s site this past Thursday, so it took a little less than 2 weeks since I requested them to be sent for UMD to receive and process them.

Did you also submit your application prior to sending SAT scores?

No, I submitted my appliction this past Monday.

If you still have the email from College Board that says they were processed? You could attach it and email the office of admissions; then call if you don’t hear back from them within a couple of days.

Thanks astrophysicsmom, I still have the email. As long as I do have the email saying that I sent the scores prior to the deadline, then I shouldn’t be penalized if they say they lost them, correct? I really don’t want to miss the Nov. 1 deadline.

waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait i just sent my scores out yesterday so they won’t get there probably till like the fourth. i thought that wasn’t a problem. is it?

I’m pretty sure that as long as you send your scores by Nov. 1, then it will be fine. It says that letters must be postmarked by Nov. 1, so I’m assuming that the same rule is applied to SAT scores.

oh **** i don’t know if my letters will go out by tomorrow… hopefully they will…

I just wanted to post an update since my mom called the office of admissions today regarding my SAT scores. They said that they did have the scores, but they have two databases and the scores were only in one of the databases, so they had to transfer them over. I’m not sure if it would have ended up fixing itself, but if all of your documents have appeared on the tracking website, except test scores, then it may be a good idea to call them.

My scores (sent the October scores, which were released on the 29th) aren’t up yet, but everything else is. Should I call? A penny for your thoughts, everyone.

I wouldn’t expect scores that were released on the 29th to be sent, received, and processed by now.

I wouldn’t worry Euroazn, as I said, I sent my scores in early Sept. Give it a few more weeks.

That’s what I thought. Thanks!
