Dealing w/ very low beds

So my roommate moved in today (athletics..regular move in is in 1 week). Our beds were bunked, but neither of us wanted bunks so we took them apart. Our problem now is that the beds are really low to the ground and don't adjust any higher.

Anyone deal with this? How did you manage to organize? I had planned on storing most of my things in storage bins/drawers under the bed like I did last year.

Google “bed risers”.

uh yeah thanks i’m not new to the planet, i know what bed risers are. they raise it about 6" which still isn’t very much room to put stuff underneath the bed.

maybe try stacking cement blocks? like maybe two under each leg of the bed…that would raise it up pretty high.

That doesn’t sound terribly stable, though. Might result in catastrophic failure at an inopportune moment. :)

Have you looked into lofting your beds over your desks?

lol. I’m on top bunk and its less than 2 feet from the celiling. I’m 6’2’'. Go figure.

Looks like I have the opposite issue.

Well we would’ve left them bunked, but it was really hard to get up to/down from the top bunk (no ladder or step stool so you just kinda have to climb up there and jump down).

I thought I would like to loft the bed up over the desk, but then you kinda have the same problem…how to get up and down…?

I figure I’d need about 18" of clearance under the bed…maybe more… Although the cinder blocks probably would give me some good height, I’d truly be terrified of the bed falling off of them :(

There are some bed risers that can raise your bed up to 2 feet…

Where would I find such a riser? The only ones I’ve seen are less than a foot

This one’s the highest I could find.

Here is a plan to make your own. Just don’t forget the part about the 12x12 base so your bed doesn’t fall.

I’ll try and find them again for you. I know I saw them online, but I can’t remember where!
