Dealing with Rejection?

Haha…just work harder on the others. And don’t spend too long being depressed. As for me, I have no CLEAR first choice, so if I get rejected from a school it probably wouldn’t hurt TOO much. (Maybe not. This is coming from someone who hasn’t applied yet xD) Wherever God wants me to go…honestly I wouldn’t mind being rejected from all schools except one. Clearly I am meant to go there. XD

me too, I’m just going to think “it wasn’t meant to be…” for all the schools where I’m rejected lol

Yale deferment is not a positive sign.

For Early Action, Yale accepts around 16% of applicants. It rejects 20% of applicants. The rest are deferred. Of those deferred, only 4% are eventually accepted. Early deferrals are early rejections–polite rejections if you will.

I understand that early deferrals doesn’t mean you won’t be successful at other schools–but if you’ve got your heart set on Yale, they’re basically a sign of rejection.

bluewatermelon - that is not always true. I know one person who was accepted after being deferred, and my father actually got in off the waiting list. Obviously, a deferral is not a good sign, but it is still very possible to be accepted, particularly if you do something awesome between december and march.

Where does the 4% come from? RD acceptance rate? If so, that is not a reliable source for admission rate for SCEA aplicants who get deferral. If not, where did you learn of it?

^Wait, I think there may be some statistics related to that compiled from CC 2013 SCEA data. Let me check…

Okay, this is somewhat a digression from the original post, but I just want to ask, is everybody done with their regular round applications already? because for some reason I feel like I’m the only one who still has to working those right now, and I’m starting to feel the pressure accumulating now that December’s almost here.

^I’m in the same position, no worries haha.

I am almost done, but still doing my final edit. And I plan to add some details on one of my essays. So relax~! Same here~I think in five days everything will be submitted.

wow, you guys are pretty on top of things compared to some of the EA-ers [like me!] who submitted their apps only a day or two before the deadline.

here here chibistar6!
