Dean J - SEAS average GPA

I was wondering the average high school and/or college GPA (or range even of either and/or both) of SEAS tranfers. If you could help, that would be great!

I don't think the University releases the information you are requesting. If you go to --

<a href="http://www.virginia.edu/uvapodcast/date.php?select_month=8&select_year=2006&Submit=Submit#%5B/url%5D">http://www.virginia.edu/uvapodcast/date.php?select_month=8&select_year=2006&Submit=Submit#</a></p>

and listen to the 7th podcast on that page entitled: Convocation - The Class of 2010 formally enters the University, President Casteen gives the following information regarding transfer students entering in the Fall of 2006:

Total transfers -- 525, Percent from Virginia -- 72, Number from VCCS -- 180,
Mean GPA of transfer students (from prior institution) -- about 3.7.

That number is not specifically for SEAS but it is probably in the ballpark.

Assuming the engineering school doesn't take less transfers or whatever, SEAS GPAs may be lower than that, since Engineering GPAs are typically lower anyway.

whats funny is the average SEAS GPA is a 3.1...for first years its a 3.0....so would a 3.5 put me in a good posistion? (im in-state, female, 3.7HS, 1380 SAT, applying as second-year)

btw, UVA has very little GPA statistics online anywhere, thats why I was posting here to see if anyone had any general info from elsewhere

bumping this with an additional question...
would SEAS transfers have generally lower GPAs? would a 3.4, in-state be acceptable?
