How does this program work?
Do you have to submit a separate application for this program?
Does anyone know or can find the stats for admission and applicants who got accepted?

I think Deans Scholar (DS) is the most well organized honors program at UT. They organize a lot of cultural events, weekly seminars, dinner at prof's houses, etc. The program is extremely small, I think only about 60 natural science students per year. The program has a small elite private school feel to it. Although after first year or so, you would be taking the same upper level class as the rest of the UT students.

I was in Engineering honors and knew a lot of DS, since we were all in the same dorm. I think you need to submit a separate application for the program. I don't quite understand the selection process. The range of standardized test scores vary a lot. I knew people in DS with less than 1300 (out of 1600), and some with perfect SAT scores. Whatever they do, they do a good job. I think DS has 100% med school acceptance rate for those DS who applied for med school. I would strongly encourage you to inquire into the program and find out more.

My brother is a Freshman DS right now. If your worried about their acceptance, I can tell you its quite small and competitive. My brother (Physics and Philosophy major w/ Math minor) had two previous internships his senior year in HS at UT in a physics lab, he got a 2250 on his SAT, and went to a magnet school, where he was top11%

I'm not sure about the application process but I know if you get in, there are a bunch of perks. Always having prof dinners, going on trips, ect.
