I have applied to Johns Hopkins under ED...

But if i suddenly have serious financial situation (my parent's boss has just died yesterday), and it is really hard to support all tuition fee for university..

can my application reevaluated as regular decision process?

so i can compare financial offer from other universities on regular decision..

please admissiondaniel,,could you answer this question?

For this to happen, you need to request to have your application changed from early decision to regular decision. You need to place that request as soon as possible. It needs to come as a written request and sent to the Office of Admissions. You should also fax a copy to 410-516-6025.

Thank you Admissionsdaniel,

SO I have to do the following right?
1. Written request sent directly to the Office of Admissions explaining my situation

Written request faxed to 410-516-6025

Do I also have to make a phone call? or send an email ?

And my guidance counselor INSISTS that he needs to get verification of withdrawing early decision in a form of some official documents. What should I do?

Yes

Yes

You should follow-up with a phone call. Do not send an email.

Our office does not provide verification of your withdrawing your early decision form. You should provide your counselor with a copy of your written request. He/She can also call our office.

Sorry to hear about your problem, this is unfortunate stress that you probably could do without right now. My father was in bankruptcy proceedings my senior year of high school. I know how emotionally draining this can be at what seems like the worst possible time. Hang it there.

Sounds like the biggest obstacle is going to be your guidance counselor's insistence of official documentation which will not be forthcoming. He could hold up later transcript submissions until he sees the decision which also won't be forthcoming.

What I would do is
1. Get your parents to FAX a letter to the GC describing your financial crisis.
2. Write your letter to JHU
3. Print this thread
4. Go to your guidance counselor with both in hand ask to fax it from his office and then follow up with a phone call later in the day again from his office.

This way you know that all parties are on the same page. Good luck.

Thanks you ClassicRockerDad,..
Your words really help me..

I know this is not the end of the world. However reality is reality right?

Dear Admissionsdaniel, would it be hard for Johns Hokipns to send just an email verification of my change in application from early decision to regular decision to my counselor?

Your guidance counselor can contact your regional Admissions representative (Hopkins Undergraduate Admissions :: Contact Us :: Meet the Staff) to ask for a verification. We work with so many applications, that we can not initiate such correspondence.
