Dear colleges, You have priced the middle/upper of the middle class out, so...

Some people may prefer a vacation, a new car, or some nifty camera equipment.

"I think you’ve hit 100 posts in this thread. Thats a talent. "

Its OCD. Do you want me to wish it on you?

yes - it is my AGI and I would love shoes to go with my Hermes (picture me basking in the sunlight on a gorgeous Paris street, sipping my latte and clicking the heels of my new shoes)…thanks for the vision.

Texasmom:

Brooklynborndad - you are correct, they expect me to use my house as a source of a loan. Hence I am being punished a little for working a couple of jobs to pay off my mortgage so I could better afford college when the time came.

To play devils advocate here,if everyone took all their extra $$$ and paid off their home loans, and then thought they should get big FA,would that be fair?? It is a way of hiding money(not to say that was your intention)…Schools NEED to look at ALL assets to confirm who NEEDS FA,and whom is trying to take advantage of system…Once again, not saying this was your plan

BBD, what is your idea of a “good job?”

“Whereas SOME of the FA student families are actually living a little higher on the hog than I (they don’t have my tax burden, they don’t have my EFC and there is no assumption they need to live on $27,600…”

they of course have to make a mortgage or rent payment every month.

Let me be clear **** I did not pay off my house so I could get FA. I paid off my house so I would have the cash-flow required to deal with college when the time came.

Although my intent was noble, I had never heard of FAFSA when I was paying off my house. I am not upset at all that I do not qualify for FA. I am upset about the FA families that post on here that full pay families need to suck it up and pay their EFC - shoud be easy with all the money we have lying around.

My point is - us full pay families are struggling as well. My income may seem high to someone making $60K, but the combination of my income and my saving habits did not earn me an easier path while my kids are in college.

l would have fully understood it if she had said it was too personal. I think i even said so.

Good night.

The thread has degenerated. The Moderator time required to thoroughly clean it up of courtesy and other Terms of Service violations would be inordinate. Accordingly, I am closing the thread.

Should anyone wish to continue the substantive discussion - without resort to ad hominem attacks - a new thread would be the proper venue.
