<p>How competitive is Williams' parliamentary debate team? I know that in 1998 Williams was second to Yale in the APDA ranking, but does it enjoy the same, or at least comparable, success today?
I'm curious because if I attend Williams, which is very likely, then debate will probably be my primary extracurricular, and I want to compete with a team that is regionally, if not nationally, competitive.</p>
<p>I’m curious about this too – I am DEFINITELY planning to join a speech/debate team in college because I absolutely loved doing LD debate during high school. </p>
<p>Frydfrog – I know that Williams is at least regionally competitive; I don’t know about nationally though. 
It might be the only thing Swarthmore has a leg up on…</p>
<p>Is Williams’ team both a speech AND debate team, or solely debate?
I ask because, while I enjoy extemporaneous speaking and other limited-prep events, I certainly do not again want to endure the tedium of preparing, memorizing, and mindlessly delivering a platform speech.</p>
